Il Dryopithecus (driopiteco) è un genere di scimmia antropomorfa estinta i cui resti furono trovati per la prima volta nel sud della Francia nel 1856. Essa rappresenta il primo fossile noto di scimmie antropomorfe. Dryopithecus è stato a lungo ritenuto un antenato dell'uomo, ma attualmente si pensa sia più simile alle Ponginae.
